Experimental Torsional Vibration Analysis of Different Propellers on a Lycoming O-360 Engine

We present here the document entitled “Experimental Torsional Vibration Analysis of Different Propellers on a Lycoming O-360 Engine”.

This study was conducted by Jérémie Buiatti and his team as part of the EASA certification process for our ASCALON range of propellers for direct drive engines.

It presents experimental measurements of torsional vibration torques on a Lycoming O-360 180hp engine, comparing different propeller designs (Sensenich, Hoffmann, Duc Flair-2, E-Props Ascalon-3), as well as the associated analysis methodology.

The purpose of sharing this information is technical, to contribute to discussions on engine-propeller coupling, the identification of torsional resonances, and their potential impact on the durability of propulsion systems.

The results are deliberately presented in a comparative and standardized form, in accordance with industrial confidentiality constraints.
