“I have installed the propeller with the pitch you suggested to 23.5 degrees.
Just turned on the engine, the feeling is a very smooth running without any vibrations.
During ground testing I found 5700 – 5750 maximum speed, very very close to the red line of the Rotax 912 but I trust in “ESR effect” and take-off. During the take-off run, rpm go down to about 5500 at the time of rotation.
Tested in MTOW conditions on asphalt runway and the result is absolutely astonishing:
– Take off in 130 mt;
– Climb rate stands at approximately 1400 ft/m – 130 km/h IAS (indicated air speed)
– Cruising at 4600 RPM 195 IAS
– Cruising at 4800 RPM 205 IAS
– Full power at 5500 RPM 225 IAS and climb to + 800 ft/m to avoid exceeding the VNE.
I found that taking off and the plane cruising needs more right rudder than before.
I have noticed an improved agility on the pitch and yaw axes.
Comparing the performance of the previous Warp Drive 180 diameter:
– Cruise: + 20 km / h IAS in 4600 RPM and +15 at 4800 RPM
– Takeoff: + 30/40 mt
– Rate of climb: +200 ft/m and +10 km/h (the first was 1200 ft/m at 120 Km/h IAS)
…. WOW ….
I will continue testing, but as a first impression is really impressive.
