Why Titanium on the leading edge? Because its coefficient of expansion is close to that of Carbon – Epoxy, the material that makes up the E-Props blades. This significantly reduces the risk of leading edge disbonding in countries with a high daily thermal amplitude.
To work it, we have developed hot forming presses (700°C) for each blade profile. A big job for a perfect fit !
Advantage of total control of the manufacturing process: at E-Props, if the Titanium protection is damaged (by a very big stone for example), the blade does not need to be changed. The protection is gently removed and replaced. Quite simply. And cheaply. 🙂
